The Kiwanis Club of Sammamish has been providing kids activities at the Sammamish Farmer’s Market. The bubble machine has been a big hit! The kids have also played cornhole and had fun with the parachute! The kids activities start up following the conclusion of the kids story time from the Sammamish Library.
As with so many other things in our life, COVID-19 is upsetting the Sammamish Kiwanis Club and our annual October Ski and Sport Swap. It will NOT be held this year again. At this time, we are not even sure what the local ski areas will be doing. In any event, we want to thank our loyal customers from throughout the community and hope they will keep us in mind next year. By then, we should be adjusted to a new normal that doesn’t differ too much from the old normal, and the Kiwanis Ski and Sport Swap will be back and better than ever
We exceeded our goal of raising $10K to support Eastside Baby Corner and Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank. We raised $10,670. With match we gave $10,670 to both organizations. This is the largest donation ever made by our club! What does this mean to our community during these extraordinarily difficult times? The Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank will continue to be able to provide shelf-stable food, fresh produce, and periodic dairy and meat items, as well as diapers. IFCB believes that food is a right, not a privilege, and always seeks to restore and maintain the dignity of those seeking resources through everything they do. Eastside Baby Corner will continue to be able to help kids and infants reach their full potential tomorrow by meeting basic needs today. They will be able to work toward a world where all children are healthy, safe and prepared to build their own futures. EBC can continue to help kids thrive by providing basic necessities and to help families become stable, safe, housed, fed and employed. Thank you very much to everyone that participated.
